Talia Reo

Psychotherapy Intern

Pre-licensed professional providing psychodynamic/analytic psychotherapy

Psychoanalytically informed practice privileges the consideration of unconscious mechanisms and the legacies of lived experiences. Through the use of psychodynamic psychotherapy, we are tasked with collaborating in working to realize that which lays latent, offering relief to suffering. Deep understanding of desire and patterns, such as through the study of dreams, fantasies, memories, helps to elucidate the meaning of our symptoms, with respect to relational and interpersonal contexts. Ultimately, we shall achieve greater acceptance of our existential condition, thereby changing one’s relationship to suffering.

I have a background in working with adults with acute psychotic and mood disorders and am passionate about applying theory to practice when employing integrative and informed care. I also have experience in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, and substance use. My theoretical education is grounded in Lacanian and classical Freudian perspectives. I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration at the University of Chicago.
