- Broker: PACO A/N, Bank of America
- DTC Participant #0955
- DTC Agent #20955
- DTC Institutional #20955 (if Bank of America is the affirming party)
- Account name: Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute

Before you start, please contact Grace Krieger at (312) 922-7474 or gkrieger@chicagoanalysis.org. Grace will share our account number and make sure we can promptly acknowledge your gift. Per IRS guidelines, the date of your gift is the date the shares leave your account, and its value is the average of the high and low price that day.
Why give stock? You avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation, and if you itemize you can generally deduct the full fair market value, up to 30% of your adjusted gross income, with any excess carried forward for up to 5 years.
Give from your IRA
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your traditional or inherited IRA to Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, up to the annual IRS limit. If you are 73 or older, it can also count toward your required minimum distribution. The funds must go directly from your IRA to CPI.
How to give: ask your broker, IRA custodian, or financial advisor to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution to Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, Federal Tax ID 36-1263210.
- Your gift is put to work right away, so you can see its impact.
- The distribution is not counted as taxable income.
- Lower taxable income may help with Social Security taxes and Medicare premiums.
- You do not need to itemize to benefit.
Wire transfers and ACH
Direct or ACH payments help us avoid bank and card processing fees, saving thousands of dollars each year. Large and international gifts may be wired to our bank. Please contact gkrieger@chicagoanalysis.org for instructions.

Ways to include CPI in your plans
A gift in your will
Name CPI in your will or trust with a fixed amount, a percentage, or the residue of your estate.
Beneficiary designation
Name CPI as a beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), 403(b), DAF, trust, or paid life insurance policy without changing your will. Retirement assets left to heirs can be taxed twice, so they are often the best assets to leave to charity.
Sample bequest language
Legal name: Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute
Address: 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60603
Federal Tax ID: 36-1263210
Residual bequest (a popular choice because loved ones receive their share first): “I devise the residue of my estate, after the satisfaction of all specific bequests and the payment of all taxes and other costs attending my death, to the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, a not for profit corporation, Tax ID 36-1263210, with principal offices at 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60603.”

Percentage bequest (grows as your assets grow): “I bequeath to the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, a not for profit corporation, Tax ID 36-1263210, with principal offices at 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60603, an amount equal to ____ percent of the net value of my estate as finally determined for federal estate tax purposes.”
Contingent bequest (CPI receives a share only if a named beneficiary does not survive you): “In the event that (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I designate the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, a not for profit corporation, Tax ID 36-1263210, with principal offices at 8 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60603, as the devisee of this bequest.”
