Alice Bernstein

Alice Bernstein, Ph.D., is a member of the Psychoanalytic Education Program faculty, currently teaching the Advanced Case Conference for candidates in their fifth year or beyond.

Dr. Bernstein is especially interested in the technique of psychoanalysis and its relationship to theoretical orientation and outcome of treatment. In the past she taught a portion of the course on technique in the PEP Program. Additionally, she has taught in the Fundamentals Program and has guided the case conference in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy of Adults Program. In the distant past she taught full time in a master’s degree program in Counseling Psychology and also taught and supervised psychotherapy at the University of Chicago and Roosevelt University. Besides these academic roles, she also served three terms as the President of the Chicago Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
