Scott Pytluk

PhD, ABPP

Scott Pytluk PhD, ABPP offers individual and relationship psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and clinical consultation in his independent practice. Interests include contemporary psychoanalytic theory and treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and transgender individuals, psychosomatics, the creative process and treatment with individuals in music and other arts, contemporary object relations and relational theory and treatment. He is an adjunct faculty member at the Institute in the Evolution of Psychoanalytic Thought program.

Affiliations:
Dr. Pytluk serves on the core faculty at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. For nearly two decades, he coordinated the Psychoanalytic Concentration at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, where he was a Professor of Clinical Psychology. He teaches psychoanalytic approaches to treatment as a core faculty member at Adler University. Dr. Pytluk was formerly a member-at-large on the Board of Directors of the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology (SPPP, Division 39 of the American Psychological Association). He was Co-Chair of SPPP’s Sexualities and Gender Identities Committee and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis.

Education:
Dr. Pytluk earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and his undergraduate degree from Brown University. He served his pre-doctoral internship at Michael Reese Hospital and received his post-doctoral training at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Chicago. Dr. Pytluk was a fellow at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis in 1997-98 and his formal psychoanalytic training at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis.
