Join the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute for an evening of art, conversation, and community at Salvage One, all in support of affordable mental health care across Chicago.
Canvas of the Mind returns on Thursday, April 15, 2027, at Salvage One. Join art lovers, mental health advocates, business and community leaders, and friends old and new for an evening of art, conversation, and community. All proceeds help make therapy affordable for children, teens, adults, and families across Chicago.
Our Impact
Since 1932, CPI has made therapy affordable for Chicagoans of all ages. Last year alone, we provided more than 12,000 therapy sessions, cared for nearly 250 people each month, and welcomed more than 200 new clients. Through The Barr-Harris Children and Family Grief & Loss Center, we offered nearly 600 sessions to children and families coping with loss, and our clinicians brought more than 1,200 sessions directly into 8 Chicago schools and community sites.
Salvage One is an antique store by day and one of Chicago’s most distinctive venues by night. With exposed brick, timber beams, vintage chandeliers, and architectural pieces collected over decades, there is something interesting around every corner, and guests are encouraged to wander and explore throughout the evening.
This year’s theme, Being. Human., celebrates what it means to be human: the visible hand of the artist, the beauty of imperfection, and the connections that bring us together.
Our palette this year takes its cue from Luminous Blue, named the 2027 Colour of the Year by WGSN and Coloro: a bright, hopeful blue that signals clarity and optimism, paired with the warm burnt orange and sand tones you’ll see throughout the evening. For us, blue also evokes depth: deep water, quiet reflection, and the calm of looking inward. Freud called it the “oceanic feeling,” that sense of being connected to something larger than ourselves, and it is a fitting backdrop for a night celebrating what makes us human.
More details will be shared as the evening comes together.
