Neal Spira is a training and supervising analyst and former Dean of the Chicago Institute

Neal Spira has been on the faculty of CPI since his graduation in 2000. He has taught widely across programs including Exploring Psychoanalysis, Psychotherapy and the PEP program. Along with colleagues Leo Weinstein and Eric Schmidt he developed the Fundamentals Program, where he taught introductory technique and essential psychoanalytic concepts. Dr. Spira has published on a number of applied psychoanalytic topics including child maltreatment, social justice and the interface between psychoanalysis and politics. His current interests are in psychosomatics and in integrating psychoanalysis with the ongoing work in psychedelic medicine.
